Stonewood Grill & Tavern

Feel Right at Home at Heathrow’s Favorite Neighborhood Grill – Stonewood Grill & Tavern

Step foot in Stonewood Grill & Tavern in Heathrow and prepare to feel right at home. The inviting vibe and surf & turf menu will entice you to label Stonewood as your new neighborhood go-to for a nice night out.

The atmosphere is casual with familiar music playing in the background, cozy booths line the walls, and there’s a spacious bar (the tavern) for those nights you just need happy hour (we’ve all been there). The menu, full of creative burgers, fresh seafood, and oak-grilled steaks ensures you’ll keep coming back time and time again.

Stonewood takes great pride in the freshness and quality of their offerings. Their food is always fresh, never frozen, and all steaks are hand-cut and seasoned with their signature house seasoning blend. All dressings are made in house, and seafood is sourced from local suppliers.

Stonewood is no stranger to Heathrow – the restaurant opened in town in 2000 and has been a local favorite ever since. It’s one of 12 locations throughout the state.

Rebecca Woods, the general manager, is also well established with the company having worked her way up from her start as a hostess at the Ormond Beach location.

Fresh offerings and a staff that knows the restaurant inside and out make Stonewood a wonderful location for date night, private parties, happy hour, or family dining in Heathrow.

Start off your meal with a salad or fresh appetizer. The Stonewood salad (also available as an entrée portion) is a combination of fresh greens, tomatoes, onions, cranberries, blackened walnuts, and bleu cheese crumbles tossed in a creamy bleu cheese dressing and topped with bacon. (The secret to a great salad: bacon). The flavors mesh to create a salad that’s both sweet and smoky while being light enough to leave room for your main course.

For tuna fans, the seared ahi-tuna is as delicious as it is beautifully presented. It’s almost too pretty to eat, but you won’t be able to resist long. Try a dab of wasabi if you’re brave, or just stick to the tossed greens and sesame ginger sauce accompanying this appetizer. This is one of Rebecca’s favorite dishes.

Stonewood is known best for their open flame oak grill which infuses the seafood and meat offerings with a savory smoky flavor and scent, so make sure to try an oak-grilled entrée for the full experience.

Choose from the oak grilled shrimp, a cheeseburger, market fresh fish, steaks, chops, or prime rib. You can’t go wrong with the melt-in-your-mouth 7oz. filet mignon with steamed vegetables and herb-scented buttermilk whipped potatoes. Hungry yet? (I am).

After indulging in a little surf and turf, leave room for dessert–the chocolate bread pudding specifically. This warm and gooey creation is lovingly referred to as “heaven in a bowl” and I’d have to agree. The generous serving of chocolate bread pudding, Jim Beam bourbon sauce, vanilla ice cream and a cookie crisp is perfect for sharing. (Or not…)

The fun doesn’t stop at the menu. The Heathrow location has loads of weekly specials including the popular Wine-Down Wednesdays with select bottles of wine ½ price all day. Crafted Tuesdays are a hit with hand-crafted burgers and $2 drafts of craft beers which will please any beer-lover, and there’s live jazz music for your enjoyment every Thursday from 6-9pm.

Happy hour is on from 4-7pm and the spacious tavern is an ideal spot to pull up a chair and stay awhile. The private dining room, which holds up to 30 people, can be booked for private events and parties.

With its winning combination of a friendly atmosphere, varied menu items, and fair prices for the quality of food, Stonewood is ideal for any occasion from date night to family night, or happy hour to private party.

Stop in for a visit to discover your new neighborhood favorite. And if you take one thing from this review, don’t miss that bread pudding!
